Aquatic Weeds

Mapping has been done of some of the worst aquatic weeds.  For Allligator Weed, use has been made of detailed infestation and natural asset mapping.  This allowed priority control areas to be determined. Until resources permit this to occur for other aquatic weeds, control is undertaken  according to these principles:

Exclude – prevent new aquatic species getting into waterways

Eradicate or contain – eliminate, or prevent the spread of new aquatic weeds

Effectively manage – control water weeds where they do most damage

Educate – Help people identify dangerous aquatic weeds and know what to do to minimise chance of spread
