  • Leaves Leaves heart-shaped, thin, 2–3-foliolate, 2.5–8 cm long, 2–5 cm wide, the terminal leaflet often replaced by a tendril
  • Flowers Deep yellow outside, creamy yellow inside on a a terminal raceme up to 5 cm long, and up to 2 cm wide
  • Fruit thick woody, compressed, elliptic capsule, with dense bristles; seeds surrounded by a transparent wing
