The unwanted mass of weeds like Arum, Canna and Ginger Lily are often dumped near bushland in unoccupied areas. They can infest creeklines and other damp areas. Arum Lily is toxic to animals and people. The escaped garden plant might seem pretty but it will destroy a native ecosystem. These large heavy infestations almost always require manual removal. The effort and cost is massive. Yet if not removed the native bushland will suffer. The cost of this must be born by wildlife or the ratepayer, but usually both. Please assist by reporting the dumping of garden waste if you become aware of it.
